Dingos K'gari Adventures · Rainbow Beach

A weekend driving K'gari

The short version of the Dingos convoy: one night in the fenced beach camp, Eli Creek and the Maheno on day one, rainforest and Lake McKenzie on day two. Pick it if you want the beach-driving experience in a weekend and can live without Champagne Pools and Lake Wabby.

Dingos 2-Day 4WD Tag-Along

About this experience

Same operator, same camp and same convoy idea as the 3-day tag-along, in half the time. The 2-day trip departs on Saturdays with a compulsory safety briefing at 7 am at Freedom Hostel in Rainbow Beach. After the briefing you head to the Inskip barge and take turns driving the beach.

Day one runs up 75 Mile Beach to the Maheno (30 minutes) and Eli Creek (an hour), then camp: one night in a twin-share tent at the dingo-proof beach site, with flushing toilets, showers and a barbecue dinner. Day two goes south to Eurong and inland to Central Station and Pile Valley (an hour), then Lake McKenzie for an hour before the drive back to the barge. Groups are smaller than on the 3-day trip: the listing caps it at 23.

What you give up is Champagne Pools and Lake Wabby, which only the 3-day trip reaches. The other terms match: ages 18 to 35, cancellation 6 days before, and damage liability reduction at AUD 25 to 50 extra. Direct, Dingos lists it from AUD 589.

  • Drive a 4WD on 75 Mile Beach yourself
  • Saturday departures that fit a weekend
  • One night in a fenced beach camp with a campfire
  • Eli Creek, the Maheno and Lake McKenzie
  • Smaller group: 23 at most

What guests say

★★★★★

We had an amazing time on the tour of K'Gari with the best tour guide Mick! Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We had such good fun floating down the lazy river of Eli Creek and Lake Mackenzie was our highlight! As a group we had a bbq for dinner, a few drinks and sat around the campfire chatting and singing!
