On every 4WD day tour here: the ferry or barge, national park fees, a driver-guide, lunch and the 4WD. Drinks and the scenic flight are usually extra.

Nobody charges you a separate park entry on the day. The vehicle access permit only applies when you bring your own car.
What extras should you budget for on a K'gari tour?
The scenic flight (AUD 120 for 15 minutes from the beach), drinks, dinner on the 2-day tour, a resort bond, and damage cover on tag-along tours.
- Scenic flight: Air Fraser Island lands on 75 Mile Beach and sells 15-minute flights from the beach at AUD 120 (airfraserisland.com.au). Tours stop for it; you pay on the day.
- Dinner and the bond on the 2-day tour: breakfast and two lunches are included, dinner is not, and K'gari Beach Resort takes a credit card pre-authorisation of AUD 100 a day plus a AUD 200 bond. One guest found "you have to eat there because you don't have other options".
- Damage cover on tag-alongs: on the Dingos tours you drive, and optional damage-liability reduction costs AUD 25 to 50 per person. Hot showers are AUD 2.
- Tips: not expected in Australia.

Two people pay AUD 300 to 480 each for the day before fuel, more than the AUD 279 tour. Four people sharing a Landcruiser come out a little cheaper than the tour, and so does anyone staying several days. Is a tag-along tour cheaper than hiring a 4WD?
Usually, for two people. The Dingos 3-day tag-along costs $440 with 4WD, fuel, permits, ferry, camp and seven meals included; you still drive.
On a tag-along you drive a 4WD in a convoy behind a lead guide. Dingos' 3-day trip includes beach-driving training, two nights in a dingo-proof beach camp, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners. Pippies' 3-day trip from Rainbow Beach adds a private campsite and long stops at Champagne Pools and Lake Wabby.
Two catches. The Dingos tours are for ages 18 to 35, and they cancel for free only up to 6 days before, not 24 hours.

Cheap here means you give something up. The half-day BBQ cruise lands on a quiet west coast beach for kayaks, snorkelling and prawns, and runs from about November to April or May. The whale cruise at $117 never lands at all, and Whalesong gives you a free return trip if you see no whales.
For Lake McKenzie, the Maheno and Eli Creek, $198 is the floor. Want the classics with more time? The 2-day tour costs about twice as much and gives you twice the lake.
